People seek therapy for a variety of reasons including help or support with life transitions, relationship difficulties, work and career stresses, major life decisions, issues around grief and loss, or to deal with events from the past that are still bothersome and impacting their daily lives.  Whatever your reasons may be, therapy can be a safe emotional space where you can explore ways to build the life that you want.

I am a trained Licensed Individual Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) with additional internship experience in perinatal mood disorders and eating disorders.

The majority of my career has been spent treating eating disorder clients within a large outpatient clinic.  My major experience has been in providing individual therapy, group therapy and intensive outpatient programming.  I have a broad range of experience in providing psychotherapy to adults and adolescents with a range of issues outside of eating disorder diagnoses including depression, anxiety, trauma and relationship difficulties, with a specific interest in pregnancy and postpartum mood disorders.

Professional Training:

I have training in many modes of psychotherapy-  Cognitive Behavioral Therapy(CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy(DBT) and Interpersonal Psychotherapy(IPT).  All modalities are helpful in dealing with the symptoms of depression and anxiety.  I am also trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing(EMDR), which is used to treat a variety of trauma including treatment of traumatic childbirth, grief and loss and family of origin attachment wounds.

What is EMDR?

EMDR is an evidence-based mind-body treatment for trauma.  EMDR is integrated into a treatment plan that includes taking a history, establishing client safety and strengths, and allows for reprocessing of traumatic memories.  EMDR can be used to treat trauma directly connected to pregnancy, birth and the postpartum period.  EMDR can also be used to strengthen mom’s own resources about an upcoming birth including positive beliefs that she will get the support she needs and reinforce whatever birth practice she chooses to use.
